![]() Use scissors to carefully free your paw pads from the rest of the excess material – or if you are using vinyl you can use a razor knife to trim it away. Use thread that matches your paw pad fabric’s color. Sew through all the layers following the traced paw pad outlines with a straight stitch to baste the fabric into the paw pad shape. Start with your cut palm pattern, do not separate the fingers yet, it will be easier to tack everything down and create the appliqué decoration. There is a detailed step-by-step explanation of the appliqué process in this tutorial: ![]() If there is anything smaller than your pattern, you might still be ok! You will need to pay special attention to sewing that area since the seam allowance will be narrower. If you have pieces that are larger than your pattern be sure to trim them off so it matches. If this is your first time cutting out a sewing pattern, to easily make sure you did it correctly, match it back up with your pattern! This is especially useful if you have decided to sew in color breaks or markings to this pattern. Cut out your fabric exactly on or just inside the line. Using a razor blade makes it very easy to cut out your pattern from the backing without cutting the fur’s pile. It is very important to be sure to use something that will not bleed or stain the fur when tracing out your patterns. Trace your pattern onto the backing of the faux fur, paying special attention to the direction the fur is going. Tip: If you wish to make the pattern arm-length, measure your arm with a string or a measuring tape and make the pattern taper, based on that measurement, to accommodate your forearm or upper arm if you go that high! You can make it longer or shorter depending on the amount of fur you have. I recommend at least to mid-forearm so there is enough coverage to tuck into a sleeve. Tape it in place.ĭecide how long you want your paw to extend up your arm. Take the extra piece of paper and fold it over so it is as wide as the wrist. Also cut out and remove the paw pad shapes, having them as a hole in the pattern will make it easier to trace them. Use a razor knife or scissors to cut the pattern out from the paper. Same with the space where your hand fits into the wrist. You want enough room for the pattern to wrap up the side of your fingers to create the 3-dimensional shape (2 fingers-width is a very good analogue for this). You can also download the pattern on my Patreon.īefore cutting anything out, make sure your hand will fit. For my first genogram, I included five generations I was a member of the first generation at the time, because I did not yet have a child. Your basic genogram will include at least three generations "above" your generation, but ideally, you'd include as many generations as possible. This will make it easier to add generations as you continue. In the example below (Figure 1), Amy is the therapist creating the genogram she is the "explorer." She is married to Bob, and they have a daughter, "M." Marriage is noted by the solid line that connects Amy to Bob, and runs above "M." If Amy and Bob were not married, this line would be dashed (as shown in Figure 2).īegin drawing your genogram low and centered on the paper. When you draw your symbol, include a double line (circle or square) to signify that you are the one taking on the family of origin exploration. If you create a genogram with a client, then the client is the "explorer." It includes: your parents, if you live at home your partner, if you live with him/her your children, if you are a parent. Your current family system is you, in your current relationship or living situation. 1 | Draw a basic genogram, beginning with your current family system I created the genogram that I use for illustration in this post using Microsoft Word, by inserting shapes. You can create also create a genogram electronically using GenoPro or Microsoft Word. If you're comfortable hand-drawing your genogram, then you'll only need the first three items. ![]() Suppliesīefore you begin, gather the following supplies: But, right now, you will focus on four foundational steps. During future steps, you will expand on the details of your genogram and include dates, relationship dynamics, and patterns. Creating Your Genogramĭuring this step, you will be creating the basic outline of your three to four generation genogram and noting all family members, relationships, and deaths. The genogram was developed by Murray Bowen, but has since been adopted by many family therapy approaches, as well as disciplines outside of family therapy. Its purpose is to help the member of the system (in this case, you) see their context in visual form, so that pivotal moments and notable patterns can be acknowledged and recorded (Kerr & Bowen, 1988). ![]() What is a genogram?Ī genogram is a visual representation of a family system, incorporating at least three generations of the system. I explain how to create a basic genogram that you can expand as you continue your exploration. In today’s post, I offer the next step in developing understanding: Creating your genogram. Bowen (1985) believed that if clients could understand themselves as members of their FOOs and as created by their histories, they could begin and continue significant change. ![]() Understanding is the foundation of Bowen Family Systems Theory (BFST). Hopefully, your curiosity has led to significant understanding. Shaders always begin with a version declaration, followed by a list of input and output variables, uniforms and its main function. GLSL is tailored for use with graphics and contains useful features specifically targeted at vector and matrix manipulation. Shaders are written in the C-like language GLSL. We will now explain shaders, and specifically the OpenGL Shading Language, in a more general fashion. In the previous chapter we briefly touched the surface of shaders and how to properly use them. Shaders are also very isolated programs in that they're not allowed to communicate with each other the only communication they have is via their inputs and outputs. ![]() In a basic sense, shaders are nothing more than programs transforming inputs to outputs. These programs are run for each specific section of the graphics pipeline. As mentioned in the Hello Triangle chapter, shaders are little programs that rest on the GPU. ![]() It’s a twenty to thirty-minute game for most players, but it’s a really fun, short burst of hyperactive gameplay. Sniping down oranges with a bow and arrow off the coast isn’t something I ever expected to do in a game.Īs far as replayability, there isn’t a whole lot. Make sure your aim is up to the test, though, because these fruits run fast, and they’ll jump pretty high to get away, too. You’ll hunt them across four different levels, from a forest to a volcano and along the coast. The fruits have these little screams while running away like terrified citizens fleeing Godzilla. The fun of it is in the strange variety and silliness of this game, tasking you to hunt down various fruits with a bow while they flee from you. Instead of the dark and gloomy woods, you’re set loose in brightly colored fields and forests made with retro, low-poly graphics. This is a much lighter game for you to play after Hog Hunter 2021. ![]() Just keep your head on a swivel, and know that you and the hogs aren’t the only ones in the woods. The low-polygon hills and forest you hunt through over the two different maps feel like an early morning hunt, and you’ll bag quite a few good-sized hogs in the process.Īgain, go in blind if possible because this is a surprisingly quiet and atmospheric little horror narrative. Don’t go into this expecting a typical hunting simulator with retro graphics. Where Hog Hunter 2021 excels is in the atmosphere it creates. Hunting hogs is only one component, and you get one rifle without many other options for loadout. Hog Hunter 2021 looks at first like a retro hunting game that belonged on the PS1 or early PC back in the late 90s. That said, it does have four different endings that you’ll want to play a few times to unlock. It’s really not a time sink at all, taking about thirty minutes for a basic playthrough. I’m going to be completely honest and say that you should go into this game as blindly as possible. Keep in mind this is free to play, but you can spend real-life money for in-game currency and upgrades. Other than that, the developers are still updating to this day, keeping up the online community with daily challenge hunts and new weapons. While it’s not a multiplayer game, there are online rankings and clans that you can join. From seriously high-powered sniper rifles to crossbows that fire shuriken and explosives, you won’t know what might unlock next after bagging the big dino prize in each level. It’s extremely fun, though, and you’ll be grinding away at it to unlock more of the ridiculous weapons throughout the game. Of course, this isn’t going for any sort of realism and more of a vibe like the old Jurassic Park arcade shooters. You’ll get to pick your loadout, customizing weapons with scopes, new ammo, and upgrades to take down everything that comes roaring at you. Dino Hunter: Deadly Shores goes prehistorically big and sets you down on an expedition through a massive island full of dinos. When the thrill of big game hunting isn’t quite enough, go bigger. Wild Hunt is also available online for free, with a browser version on the game’s official website. There’s plenty of variety that keeps it fresh, though, and the developers are still updating with challenges and events throughout the game. When it comes to replayability the game is pretty good for short bursts, with each hunt probably taking fifteen minutes max. The amount of species that can be hunted is really diverse, and while not terribly in-depth, you will have to know a thing or two about tracking. Choose a loadout before setting out, with upgradeable guns and bows, and pick a location from countries like South Africa, North America, Central Asia, and others. The real fun comes from the massive amount of different aspects available to the simulator. The graphics aren’t necessarily anything to write home about, looking about on par with a PS2 or early PS3 game, but it definitely isn’t bad looking for a mobile game. ![]() Especially considering it fits in your pocket and can be played on the go, with fairly limited ad interruptions. Buying on Instagram also requires some research on the account you’re shopping from - you don’t want to end up paying hundreds of dollars for a piece that never arrives.īut for a platform with a lot of loose ends, Instagram is quickly becoming a new kind of miscellaneous market - one where people can find clothes, shoes, art, and, of course, jewelry all in the same place. Authenticity, value, and background are all factors you have to verify. There's a lot of trust involved in buying a piece from a random seller on the internet, especially for someone unfamiliar with gold. While apps like Depop and eBay have gained popularity as people were basically forced to online shop even more regularly since COVID-19 began to spread, buying clothing online is a much different story than investing in jewelry worth hundreds. Now, Instagram seems to be harboring a gold rush of its own. Accounts selling the pieces claim they’re all real gold, and their reasonable prices make vintage gold even more highly coveted. But the same limits apply to pawn shops, jewelers, and estate sales, where real gold jewelry can be found. It credits flourishing sales to the extra cash consumers have with limited travel and dining out options. Even throughout the pandemic, when luxury goods suffered, the gold market stayed "relatively resilient," according to National Jeweler. Like the sneaker resale market, these long-lasting pieces are seen as investments - but gold will always hold value, while the footwear game is more volatile, and profit isn’t guaranteed.
